GLOBAL ALIVIO ANNOUNCES GOVERNANCE EVOLUTION TO INSTITUTIONALIZE GLOBAL IMPACT AHEAD OF 30TH ANNIVERSARY

27 October, 2026

Founder Ulrick Gaillard Appointed Executive President of the Board to Lead Global Strategy and International Diplomacy; Restructuring Establishes Dual-Tier Leadership Model for Next Era of Institutional Growth

NEW YORK, NY — October 27, 2026 — Marking nearly three decades of transformative humanitarian leadership, the Board of Directors of Global Alivio (the operational brand of Batey Relief Alliance, Inc.) today announced a historic evolution of its corporate governance framework. As the organization prepares for its 30th anniversary next year, this strategic restructuring establishes a dual-tier leadership model designed to permanently anchor the NGO’s international mission, secure its fiduciary resilience, and scale its global operations for generations to come.

Under the newly ratified charter voted on at the Batey Relief Alliance’s annual Board of Directors meeting on October 23, 2026, Mr. Ulrick Gaillard will transition to assume the position of Executive President of the Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2027. This structural evolution deliberately separates macro diplomatic strategy from routine administrative oversight. The organization’s traditional corporate officer roles, including Board Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary, remain fully intact to ensure independent board oversight, corporate compliance, and fiduciary stewardship.

In his new capacity as Executive President of the Board, Mr. Gaillard will dedicate his leadership entirely to high-level international representation, cross-border diplomacy, and global alliance-building. He will continue to serve as the organization’s Chief Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and lead bilateral negotiations with sovereign governments, multinational corporations, and major institutional partners, including long-standing allies such as Procter & Gamble and the Clinton Global Initiative.

This transition follows major international recognitions for both the institution and its founder, including an October 2026 Alumni Perspective publication by Harvard Kennedy School highlighting Mr. Gaillard’s decades of “redefining public health in the Dominican Republic through strategic leadership,” as well as the United Nations’ official publication of Batey Relief Alliance’s written statement (E/C.2/2026/CRP.23) for the ECOSOC High-Level Segment—circulating its 28-year longitudinal field data to Member States as a blueprint for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“This governance evolution marks a defining milestone in our institution’s history,” stated Board Chairperson Carol King. “By appointing Mr. Gaillard to Executive President, we permanently anchor his thirty years of irreplaceable relationship equity, diplomatic vision, and moral authority at the helm of our global strategy.”

Since its inception in 1997, Batey Relief Alliance has pioneered model health, educational, and economic development systems across the Caribbean and the Americas’ most underserved regions, building modern healthcare infrastructure in marginalized batey communities and directly impacting over 4.5 million lives. This governance restructuring institutionalizes the organization’s operating framework, ensuring a permanent, self-sustaining foundation for long-term global impact.

Batey Relief Alliance’s sovereign partners, donor network, and diplomatic affiliates can expect complete continuity across all active field operations, health and clean water initiatives, and women’s economic empowerment projects under the expanded governance model.

About Global Alivio (Batey Relief Alliance)

Founded in 1997 by philanthropist Ulrick Gaillard, Batey Relief Alliance, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization dedicated to creating productive, self-sufficient environments for marginalized populations. Holding Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2014 and affiliated with the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), the organization has spent nearly three decades delivering sustainable health and HIV care, food security, clean water, and women’s economic empowerment initiatives.

Originally established to address extreme poverty and healthcare gaps within the rural sugarcane plantation enclaves (bateyes) of the Dominican Republic, the organization has expanded its development models internationally, impacting more than 4.5 million lives across the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Peru, and the United States. To formalize this international expansion and scale its work globally, the organization executed a strategic rebranding in 2025 under its global public identity, Global Alivio.
