QUITO, Ecuador. – Batey Relief Alliance’s CEO, Ulrick Gaillard left on October 10th the organization’s home base in New York for Ecuador’s capital Quito where he attended a series of USAID-sponsored workshops and meetings with non-profit leaders from Latin America interested in addressing issues of Women’s Economic Empowerment, HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention, Human Trafficking, Democracy Building, and the Environment. These projects, which fall under the USAID new Development Grants Program, will target countries such as Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Peru.
On October 18th, Gaillard will travel to Indiana University at Bloomington on a three-day visit where he will meet with the university Dean, professors and students to discuss collaboration in areas of healthcare, economic development, and research. Gaillard is expected to attend the organization’s annual Board of Directors meeting to be held on October 24-25 in Rhode Island.
Gaillard was accompanied by senior staff and officials from the organization, including Dr. Raymond Thertulien, BRA’s International Medical Director, Maria Virtudes Berroa, BRA’s Executive Director, Dr. Wendy Valdez, BRA’s Medical Service Director, and Matilde Marcial, BRA’s HIV/AIDS Coordinator.
