NEW YORK, N.Y.- The offices of the Batey Relief Alliance (BRA) announce that at its January 2014 meeting, the United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations approved the Batey Relief Alliance, Inc. as an accredited NGO in Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Consultative status provides NGOs like BRA with access not only to the ECOSOC, but also to its many subsidiary bodies, to the various human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, ad-hoc processes on small arms, as well as special events organized by the President of the General Assembly. “It is a giant step forward for our organization to be part of this important circle, providing us access not only to the many issues that nations of the world deal with on a daily basis at the UN, but also an opportunity to provide our opinion and shape ideas and conclusions,” said Ulrick Gaillard, BRA’s CEO.
Prior to be elevated to the ECOSOC status, for the past seven years, BRA has been affiliated with the United Nations Department of Public Information NGO Section. Five representatives, including two Youths, represent BRA at the UN, to help advance the missions of both organizations here and abroad.
