BRA Dominicana?s ED, Maria Virtudes Berroa met recently with Canadian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Hon. Adam Blackwell, to discuss long-term health projects targeting the country?s most impoverished in the bateyes, urban slums and the frontier zones with Haiti. Present were also Batey Relief Alliance?s Executive Director, Ulrick Gaillard, and Mark Newton, special assistant to the Ambassador.

The BRA received praise from the Ambassador for its sustainable health care intervention in the bateyes, and its capacity to develop a strong alliance with local member organizations and government partner agencies. Ambassador Blackwell offered his support by helping BRA to develop new partnerships with Canadian organizations in health care and HIV/AIDS prevention projects. ?The Canadian Embassy to the DR has always supported our work. In fact, it was the first local international entity to fund some of our projects in the country ? a gesture BRA will always recognize,? said Ms. Berroa.
