CWS partners with BRA on health education in the bateyes. 22 May, 2005

Santo Domingo, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. The Batey Relief Alliance (BRA) receives the donation of 11 thousand health and hygiene kits from the New York-based Church World Service (CWS) as part of a new partnership to develop an effective preventive health education program for the most vulnerable languishing in the bateyes of the Dominican Republic.

Those Kits will be distributed to children from 3 to 15 years and adults who are currently participating in workshops and training activities organized by BRA on preventive health, hygiene and dental education at various batey communities in the Monte Plata province.

Funded by the Canadian Fund and the Catholic Medical Mission Board, this program, called ?Clean Hands? has the goal of contributing to a change of behavior, improved quality of life, and better health among 10,000, including those living with HIV/AIDS/STIs, vulnerable children and orphans.
