SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – On Monday, January 9, the Health Minister of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Bautista Rojas, signed an important agreement with BRA Dominicana – Batey Relief Alliance’s project organization, continuing a partnership signed in 2000 to deliver collaboratively critical health care and essential medicines to the most impoverished living in the country’s rural batey communities and underserved urban and frontier areas.
Maria Virtudes Berroa, BRA Dominicana’s Executive Director who signed the document explained that without the continuing support of the government, BRA’s success in its humanitarian intervention would have not been possible. The Ministry assists the work of the BRA with healthcare personnel, customs clearance for medical donations, and as an implementing partner in projects such as child malnutrition and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
